Ahead of his performance in St. John's this Sunday, reporter Tara Bradbury caught up with Elvis tribute performer Thane Dunn and asked him about his thought on the new 'Elvis' movie.

The New Brunswick native has spent most of his life immersed in all things Elvis Presley, first as a fan and then as a tribute artist, studying the king of rock ‘n roll’s voice, mannerisms and style, and selling out venues around the continent performing his music.
Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” — which stars 30-year-old Butler as Presley from his beginning as a singer in Memphis to his final performance in Las Vegas weeks before his death in 1977 —has already become the second-highest-grossing music biopic in the global box office since it opened in June, earning more than $251 million worldwide, according to Billboard.
“This year is the 45th anniversary of Elvis’ death and he’s probably more popular today than when he was alive,” Dunn says. “People who never had a chance to see him alive can still fall in love with him today. I’m even more in love with Elvis now than I was when I was a kid.” Together, Dunn and the Cadillac Kings hope to recreate some of the magic of Presley’s legendary shows at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas in August 1972. “Suspicious Minds,” “Burning Love,” “How Great Thou Art,” “My Way” — the set list includes a lot of the songs fans know and expect, Dunn says.
