SAN ANTONIO — When the XFL’s regular season ended, the Arlington Renegades ranked as the worst scoring offense in the league, averaging just 14.6 points per game.

Arriving in San Antonio for the league’s championship game as an 8.5-point underdog, Arlington delivered its strongest performance of the season, riding three touchdown passes from Perez to a 35-26 win against the D.C. Defenders on Saturday in the Alamodome. Arlington charged out to a 17-0 advantage and led 20-6 at halftime, scoring on all four of its first-half drives and starting 6 for 6 on third down.

After an interception by D.C.’s Jordan Ta’amu, Arlington converted third-and-4 and third-and-1 situations before finally being stopped in the red zone, settling for a 29-yard field goal from Taylor Russolino and a 17-0 lead.
