Last Friday, the ANC held a picket outside the Israel office in Pretoria, with the EFF doing the same on Monday. The death toll in the war between Israel and Hamas has surpassed 5,000 since 7 October, when Palestinian militant group, Hamas, launched a surprise attack on Israel. National chairperson of the Jewish Board of Deputies, Karen Milner, said that the casualties on both sides were an absolute tragedy.
"The marches and posturing by both the ANC and the EFF will not help the desperate plight of innocent Palestinians, nor bring peace to the region until they can recognise the humanity on both sides."
