Restaurants Canada report suggests Alberta reintroduce liquor server wage, reduce costs and continue to \u0027cut red tape\u0027
from Restaurants Canada gives the Alberta government a B-plus grade for the restaurant friendliness of its liquor policies — the top mark in the country. It’s a slight improvement from the B it got in the last report in 2019, something the organization’s Western Canada vice-president attributes to Alberta’s quick adaptation of policy during COVID and reduction of “red tape” for the industry.
“They’ve also done a lot over at AGLC to continue to cut red tape, modernize it, and they’ve just been a very good partner to work with as an industry association and on behalf of our members.”Article content “It enables them to pay those people more, and it also enables them to give more hours and better service to their customers,” he said.
“Alberta has cut more than one-third of its total provincial regulatory requirements since 2019,” said Premier Jason Kenney. “We are committed to cutting red tape for the province’s restaurants and bars and, once we cut it, we will prevent new red tape from creeping back.”
