And it wasn’t just that the numbers weren’t there, Huberdeau rarely — if ever — looked like the elite NHL playmaker he’d proven himself to be when he was with the Florida Panthers the previous season. “It’s mental, and I completely lost my swagger this year,” Huberdeau explained. “You can just tell, you have no confidence in the way you play, it’s hard. You’re just trying to be out there and help your team win and you can’t really do it.
