The Calgary Flames have recalled their goalie of the future, Dustin Wolf, for his NHL debut in the team\u0027s season finale.
He was raised in Gilroy, Calif., and just like his folks, attended plenty of games in teal. After Wednesday’s prep, he told reporters: “It’s pretty special to play against the team you grew up idolizing.”Michelle and Mike already had this day circled on the calendar, an opportunity to catch up with their son and watch him do what he does best. Except the initial plan was to drive from their current home base in Everett, Wash.
“He definitely, from the beginning, said ‘I’m going to play in the NHL. Period,’ ” Michelle said. “He started skating in pre-school. This has sort of been his plan since at least mites, and he’s never strayed away from it. It’s just, this is what it was going to be. How many kids at that age pick what they’re going to do?”
