African leaders aim to increase the share of locally manufactured vaccines, medicines, and diagnostics to 60% by 2040. This will be achieved through the establishment of a sustainable vaccine development and manufacturing ecosystem, supported by research and development, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships.

Local manufacturing and access to health products represent strategic pillars of the health and security agenda for the Africa n continent. Africa n leaders pledge to increase the share of vaccines, medicines, and diagnostics locally manufactured in Africa to 60% by 2040.
