From petrol hikes to allegations on ANC NEC member Ace Magashule and violence in an EC prison: here are five stories from the weekend that you may have missed.
A new book titled Gangster State: Unraveling Ace Magashule's Web of Capture reveals corruption allegations against the ANC secretary general.As of Wednesday the petrol price will rise by R1.34 per litre for 93 octane and R1.31 for 95 octane in non-coastal provinces. For coastal provinces 95 unleaded will go up by R1.26 and R1.29 for 93 unleaded.
The diesel 0.05 price increases by 76c/l at the coast and 81c/l inland and illuminating paraffin goes up by 56c/l at the coast and 63c/l inland. Energy minister Jeff Radebe said April is an important month to revise road and pipeline tariffs, Road Accident Fund levies and fuel. He also attributed the hike to the depreciating rand against the US dollar and the increase of the Brent Crude oil price.
