A new book focused squarely on Magashule's role in state capture has made some explosive claims.

One such tale is an account of former Mangaung mayor Thabo Manyoni’s first meeting with the Guptas which was facilitated by Magashule. The report goes on to state that leaked e-mails and documents implicate Magashule in the alleged diversion of funds in the millions from a massive government contract in the Free State.
A claim which a former Umkhonto weSizwe operative from the Free State and a former United Democratic Front leader has dismissed on account ofSeipei being a child at the time Magashule was alleged to have trained him and Magahule’s own lack of military training,
