The A6 was closed north of Preston after a serious crash last night (Thursday, October 5).
The crash, involving a car and a van, happened around 5.30pm on A6 Preston Lancaster Road at Bay Horse. Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene – just south of M6 junction 33 – and the road remained closed until midnight. Fire crews from Garstang and Lancaster worked at the scene for around two hours and helped rescue a casualty trapped inside one of the vehicles. The injured person was given first aid by firefighters before being handed over to ambulance crews.
Lancashire Police have been asked for further details. A fire service spokesperson said: “Garstang along with Lancaster attended a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on the A6 in bay horse. 'One casualty was reported trapped. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately two hours. 'The casualty was given first aid by firefighters and was extricated and handed over to North West Ambulance Service.
