Speaking exclusively to the Liverpool ECHO a neighbour told how police were forced to barricade residents in during the riots
A taxi was seen pulling up outside the home of the alleged Southport stabbing suspect 20 minutes before chaos descended on a Southport street. Neighbours living on Old School Close, in Banks, said they saw the taxi on their Ring doorbell footage, pulling up outside, at 11.30am on Monday, July 29. Just 20 minutes later emergency services descended on Hart Street, in Southport, to reports of multiple stabbings.
The neighbour said: 'I hadn't even read the news or seen the news when armed police were in my garden pointing a gun at me. I didn’t know what was happening.' After a peaceful vigil held in memory of the victims on Tuesday night, a planned protest in the town centre turned violent with clashes between rioters and emergency services.
