Crown Gospel Music Awards organisers hope the move will lead to opportunities for both the awards and the province of Gauteng.
The Crown Gospel Music Awards were established in 2008.Organisers and provincial government share hopes that this move will positively impact the province and the music genre.The Crown Gospel Music Awards, one of South Africa's most prestigious music awards ceremonies, is moving from its long-time home of Durban to the vibrant city of Johannesburg in Gauteng.
"Since its inception, the awards have grown to become one of the most highly anticipated events on the South African music calendar. The awards are known for their high production value and have featured some of the biggest names in the South African Gospel music industry, including Rebecca Malope, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Solly Mahlangu and Jumbo, among others," said organisers in a statement.
Furthermore, events and activities planned by the organisation behind the awards in the lead-up to the main ceremony are said to provide an opportunity for growth and empowerment for the local gospel artists.
