Gaetz and other GOP members who backed him are now facing retribution from the party for ousting McCarthy. Some Republicans in the House have discussed expelling McCarthy from the caucus. Gaetz says that while he got a few stern looks on the floor, it’s the people of Florida who elected him and they’re in support of his actions to change the United States Congress for the better.
“I believe we have two excellent choices so far. Steve Scalise, who's our current number two from Louisiana and Jim Jordan, who's my personal mentor, someone I really look to as a personal hero ,who's the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, though either Jim Jordan or Steve Scalise would be a market improvement over Kevin McCarthy and their contest is underway now.”
