Two children are among the four people injured in the deadly three-vehicle crash in Opelika.
One of the passengers – the 5-year-old – was removed from a vehicle and appeared to be in cardiac arrest, according to police. The child was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where he or she was pronounced dead at 10:11 a.m.
Four other people were also injured: a 34-year-old woman and a 10-year-old who were taken to a hospital by ambulance. A 46-year-old woman was airlifted to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Georgia, and a 9-year-old was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama.The investigation is ongoing.
