Seventeen deaf matriculants will take their Sign Language exams in Mpumalanga.The provincial education department says it is hoping for a 100% pass in the subject.
The pupils, from all corners of Mpumalanga, will watch questions posed to them using Sign Language through their screens and respond accordingly. "We are excited as the province. We hope this [motivates] other children with disabilities to continue their education." "All disabled children, pupils with albinism and those who are physically challenged are going to be rewarded with bursaries should they pass their matric examinations," he said. "We have special educators taking care of our children from Grade 1. We ensure that they are fully prepared to participate in every examination. We have full-time nurses and therapists looking after our pupils,” Zwane explained.
