The governor and other officials took part this week in the grand opening of the $120 million AUBix data center in Auburn. It's a 40,000 square-foot center that will offer private and public organizations more secure and efficient access to fiber networks.
The 40,000 square-foot center near the Auburn University campus will offer private and public organizations more secure and efficient access to fiber networks and more content for consumers, AUBix co-founder and CEO Andrew Albrecht said at today’s event, which featured remarks from Ivey, Rogers, Auburn Mayor Ron Anders, and Auburn University President Jay Gogue.
“We enable service providers and enterprise organizations to co-locate their equipment inside these walls in a secure facility that’s connected to multiple national and global networks,” Albrecht said. “The shared cost infrastructure of the facility you see behind us provides exceptional value not afforded to an individual company on a stand-alone basis.”
“They’re in a physically secure and logically secure building, meaning cybersecurity,” Albrecht said. “Now they have access to more global networks directly on their backbone. Rather than getting a line out to their office, they’re literally sitting right on a fiber backbone. Analogous to sitting on a well, if you will. You can draw as much as you want on that backbone. And generally it’s lower cost and higher quality.
