'I don’t want to lose myself again over a glass of wine' - Soweto Gospel Choir star Tladi
A month after City Press reported that former gospel star Lehakoe Tladi was battling alcoholism as a result of depression, the singer was admitted to a rehabilitation centre and is now working on living an alcohol-free life.
WATCH | From gospel stars to addicts: Former Spirit of Praise, Soweto Gospel Choir members battle addiction Tladi said the place felt like home, she even had an opportunity to speak about her past traumas and learn more about herself. I had a whole lot of resentment towards a lot of people. That is why it was like I was trying to take that anger out by drinking alcohol. At the centre, I was able to unpack everything that happened to me from childhood to adulthood. I was told that alcoholism is a disease, and that is why my problems got worse when I turned to it. They saw something in me that I couldn’t see, and they were able to take it out. I am grateful for that. That adventure connected me to my higher power.
