US President Donald Trump is preparing an aggressive new sanctions strategy against Russia, aimed at forcing an end to the Ukraine conflict.
New Russia sanctions on cards as Trump seeks Ukraine peace deal.US President Donald Trump is ready to tighten sanctions against Russia to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine , The New York Post has reported, citing US Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg .According to the special envoy, Trump met with his"whole confirmed team" of advisers and cabinet members last week to discuss the way to use all elements of national power to end the conflict.
"Solving the Russia-Ukraine war is really all hands-on deck for the entire administration, so a whole-of-government approach," the official said."Is it going to be agreeable to everybody? No. Is it going to be acceptable to everybody? No. But you try to run this balance," Kellogg said. After a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the fall of 2024, Trump said that it was possible to conclude a peace agreement"that’s good for both sides".
