The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) spent over R43 million during the 2023/24 financial year on the salaries of senior management, executive management and its board, the public broadcaster’s annual report has revealed.

In terms of the Non-Executive Board Members, Ramukumba was the highest paid member, getting paid R1.098 million while the Deputy Chairperson Nomvuyiso Batyi was the second highest paid member with a remuneration of R951,000. This was all revealed in the SABC annual report for 2023/2024. Ramukumba, Maimela, Mohuba, Tsedu and Van Biljon attended 23 Board Meeting while Batyi, Magopeni, Makhwanya, Moonsamy, Horne and Thipanyane attended 22 meetings. This was a notable improvement in comparison to the loss of R826 million in the previous year.

The SABC reported total revenue of R5.1 billion while the operational expenses stood at R5.3 billion and tax benefits was R3.2 million.
