Volunteer community responders from the Old East Safety Forum came together to help a mother who unexpectedly went into labor on the street in Lynnwood Glen, Pretoria.
A team of volunteer community responders from the Old East Safety Forum helped a mother who went into labor on the street in Lynnwood Glen, Pretoria, on Friday. Ward 56 councillor Jarad Frimmel, who was part of the response team, said he and his patrol partner received an urgent message about a woman in labor. They arrived to find the mother, in her 30s, lying on a lawn. She explained she was visiting Times Square from Johannesburg and started to go into labor while in a taxi.
She was asked to leave the taxi due to her condition and became stranded. Fortunately, security officers from CSI Security and Interactive Security spotted her and called for assistance. The responders checked on the mother's condition and dispatched an ambulance. A volunteer community responder and doctor working in a maternity ward offered guidance over the phone. With the mother's cooperation and the doctor's advice, they assisted her in delivering a healthy baby boy. Frimmel stated that they wrapped the baby up, cleaned him, and handed him to the mother. The mother and her newborn son didn't experience any complications during labor. This was her second child. Emergency Medical Solutions transported the mother and child to a nearby hospital for further care and support
