Jacob Zuma has threatened legal action against the ANC if the party does not reinstate his membership by 31 January.

UMkhonto weSizwe Party leader Jacob Zuma’s legal representatives have sent a letter of demand to the African National Congress requesting the reinstatement of his membership to the party. on 16 December 2023 in Orlando, Soweto. His disciplinary hearing was held virtually in July, and ANC outcast Tony Yengeni represented him. He was eventually suspended and appealed the decision.

On Wednesday, 8 January, Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi said the lawyer’s letter outlines significant procedural and substantive concerns regarding the processes undertaken by ANC’s NDC and NDCA. “Jacob Zuma has requested that the ANC address this matter and announce his reinstatement by 31 January 2025. Should this not occur, he may have no choice but to explore legal remedies to protect his constitutional and contractual rights as a loyal member of the ANC for 65 years,” Manyi explained.
