TOTK has the perfect basis for DLC Shrines.
If DLC is produced for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, then the game has already provided the perfect setup for a new group of Shrines and their respective puzzles. The multitude of Shrines in TOTK, much like in Breath of the Wild, challenge the player’s skills in a variety of ways. However, one particular set of potential puzzles has gone curiously unexplored in the base game.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Shrines present players with many different challenges, but certain groups and patterns quickly emerge upon examination. Some Shrines test proficiency with one of Link’s abilities, such as Ultrahand or Fuse, while others consist of more general physics-based puzzles. Still more test a player’s strategic skill and resourcefulness, such as the various Proving Grounds Shrines.
Of course, assuming that DLC is indeed in TOTK’s future, it is more likely than not that new Shrines will be part of the additional content. After all, DLC for Breath of the Wild provided several new shrines for players to complete, and as the game’s direct sequel, TOTK’s own DLC could easily follow a similar structure.
With new shrines being a strong possibility in future DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Sage’s Abilities provide the perfect basis for new puzzles. This would prevent these Shrines’ concepts from simply being repeats of the base game’s own, something which would obviously be to the DLC’s detriment. Instead, the novelty of such puzzles could contribute greatly to the success of any DLC, by making it that much more unique and entertaining to complete.
