A reader calls out those who booed Sen. John Cornyn at the recent state GOP convention. Cornyn had the audacity to work with Democrats on bipartisan gun safety reforms.Re: “Mold. Crime. Angry tenants,” Front Page, Sunday:at Vista Del Rey Apartments. I have been a resident at this complex for many years, and it seems each time I walk around the complex I see more signs of deterioration. This complex was very nice when I first moved to San Antonio in 1992.

Street racing has become common. If I drive the speed limit, I assume I will be passed by drivers 5 miles over the limit. That is nothing new. When one of our elected officials attempts to work with Democrats on some kind of gun ownership rules to help alleviate incidents such as the one that have occurred at Uvalde, other schools and places, that official should be praised, not booed. And where are their manners, respect, decorum? Have we ceased to be civilized?
