Democratic gubernatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke recently used obscene language at a campaign stop when answering a heckler. A reader wonders whether use of such words is appropriate for someone who wants to be governor of Texas.What is it about Beto O’Rourke and profanity? I don’t just mean swearing. I mean his use of the most foul language. It’s classless and crude.Profanity is the lowest form of verbal retaliation. It shows you really don’t have much in the way of a rhetorical arsenal.
