Xavier Doerr was injured during 'horrendous' conditions while attempting to break several records circumnavigating Australia.

It followed a major search and rescue effort coordinated by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority involving the bulk carrier, two rescue planes and an RAAF aircraft. Mr Doerr's shore team manager, Lee Randall, told ABC Gold Coast on Sunday morning that AMSA located the boat "fairly quickly" after the emergency beacon was initiated.
"They did that by getting a line to the boat and then Xavier was attached to that line and they pulled him and rescued him onto the ship."Mr Randall said Mr Doerr was medically assessed on board the bulk carrier last night and will be taken to Adelaide by Medivac on Sunday morning."[On] Friday he did collide with something in the water and that brought the boat to a fairly big slow down," he said.
