A message to Conrad Tao, the 27-year-old former child prodigy and graceful American soloist: never play another classic piece by a dead composer again
This may seem harsh, but the reason behind this temptation is that Conrad Tao — who has performed two classic piano concertos with the New Jersey Symphony in the last five years — is also a composer. He opened up the’s latest concert series this weekend with his own 10-minute work for piano and orchestra titled “Spoonfuls.” He was also the soloist seated at the Steinway for what was billed as the “East Coast Premiere” of this 2020 work.
