Mia Anne Brehme says her first thought was her three-year-old daughter
When young mum Mia Anne Brehme noticed she was bleeding whenever she used the toilet, she assumed she had piles.
While awaiting her results, the mum, from Leigh, became very unwell and started experiencing a lot of pain. “It’s never easy being told, at the age of 23, that I have stage 4 cancer. It broke me. I have good days and bad days but I’m struggling at the moment.” Screening tests can find polyps so they can be removed before turning into cancer. Screening also helps find colorectal cancer at an early stage, when treatment works best.
