Laura Corza, a parishioner at St. John Neumann church in Irvine, said that the bishop “had a heart for people,” regardless of their race, creed, legal status or other factors. “He was always alongside us; blessing our dreams and wiping tears,” said Corza, who lives in Tustin. “He was warm and disarming with his presence, and set you at ease.
