The story of the day at Alabama was Bryce Young and Will Anderson opting to play in the Sugar Bowl instead of getting the NFL Draft head start.
The headlines came just before Alabama hit the practice field for the first workout in the buildup to the Dec. 31 game with Big 12 champion Kansas State.
Saban also noted that Alabama “minimized the risk of them playing in the game by insuring them the best we possibly can.” Schools can take out insurance policies in the event of major injuries impacting players’ future earnings in the NFL.
