New ITV drama The Long Shadow documents the impact Peter Sutcliffe's terrible crimes had on his victims
The Yorkshire Ripper’s brother has broken his silence on ITV’s new drama documenting his terrible crimes.
Sutcliffe also attempted to murder another seven during that period. Sutcliffe carried out his shocking acts of violence across Yorkshire. He died in prison in 2020 aged 74.Some families of Sutcliffe’s victims have made their thoughts known on The Long Shadow - in general the programme has divided opinion. Now, as reported by MailOnline, Sutcliffe’s brother Carl has broken his silence.
“I have a thick skin and this drama won’t impact on me too much,” said antique dealer Carl. “‘But I hope this will be the last. My brother’s story has been repeatedly told and, for the sake of the victims and their families – and my family – it needs to be left now. It is history.”“What is to be gained from this? I feel so sorry for the victims’ families that they have to endure the retelling of losing their loved one,” he continued. “It just drags up the most painful memories.
