Alicia Elliott says her American XL bully Tank is her baby and gets bossed around by her cat
The owner of an American XL bully has defended the breed, saying her pet is "placid and calm" and an integral part of her family. Derbyshire Live reports that Alicia Elliott is launching a petition against Rishi Sunak's proposed ban on the breed, following a series of serious incidents involving the dogs.
She said: "The dogs are hugely popular and rightly so. They are not nasty or dangerous as everyone thinks and often when any dog turns nasty, it is often the fault of the owners. "I think it's awful what has happened to the man in Walsall, however we shouldn't all have to be punished for this. I would love people to meet Tank to prove he's not a dangerous dog.
Alicia added: "He has always been placid and calm to the point of being lazy and he wouldn't hurt a fly. I have absolute 100% confidence in Tank's good nature."
