Microsoft is reportedly ending Xbox Live Gold and replacing it with a new subscription called Xbox Game Pass Core:
A now-deleted story from Windows Central reveals that Xbox Live Gold will soon be a thing of the past and that a newXbox Live Gold subscription to be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Core this fall, Xbox Game Pass Core will be the baseline subscription service for Xbox consoles and will cost the same price as Xbox Live Gold – $9.99 per month or $59.99 for the year – and will include usual benefits such as access to online multiplayer.
However, on top of that, this new subscription will include some extra benefits, such as access to a selection of"over 25 high-quality" Xbox games.
When Xbox Game Pass Core launches this fall, all current Xbox Live Gold subscribers will automatically be switched over to Xbox Game Pass Core. Microsoft hasn't officially announced the change, but it's likely we'll hear something on Xbox Game Pass Core soon.
