UPDATE: W. Loop chase, crash suspect may have been under the influence of PCP, HPD says | Only 13 captured chaotic aftermath
A driver may have been under the influence of PCP when he led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle on Thursday, Houston police said.
Good Samaritans were also seen prying open the door of one of the pickups in an attempt to pull the driver to safety. Those officers requested marked units to stop the vehicle near Hempstead and the West Loop. Emergency lights were activated, but the driver refused to stop. Officers discontinued the pursuit as traffic volumes increased with the afternoon commute, but the driver kept going toward the connector ramp, where police believe three vehicles were hit.
