The Defence Minister shared a heartbreaking update during a press conference on the downed ADF helicopter which crashed during a training drill in Queensland on Friday night.

The crew members were training as part of Exercise Talisman Sabre in an Army MRH90 helicopter when it ditched into the ocean on Friday night.

The search and rescue has now moved into a recovery effort, with the families of the four aircrew notified on Monday. Several pieces of debris have been found off the Queensland coast and specialist divers have been scouring the crash site and surrounding areas over the weekend. ADF Chief General Angus Campbell said the operation had the “full backing of the entire multinational effort that is present in Exercise Talisman Sabre”.
