The world’s oldest verified living person, Kane Tanaka of Japan, has died at age 119
A city official in Fukuoka, southern Japan, confirmed that Ms. Tanaka died at a hospital in Fukuoka on April 19. He gave the cause as old age.
According to the Gerontology Research Group, the oldest person in the world is now Lucile Randon, 118, a French nun who was born on Feb. 11, 1904. According to Guinness, she married her cousin, Hideo Tanaka, owner of a rice-cake shop, at the age of 19. After the war, Kane and Hideo became Christians and the couple traveled to the U.S. to celebrate their gold wedding anniversary, enjoying a visit to Disneyland, according to Kyodo News.
