The Vodacom Bulls were delighted to announce the signing of Springbok fullback Willie le Roux in what will be a significant boost to Jake White’s backline.
Having brought the curtain down on his five-year stint in Japan with Toyota Verblitz, Le Roux joins the Bulls on a three-year contract that will see him stay at the Pretoria outfit until June 2026..
Le Roux, who has 83 Test caps, arms White with an all-Springbok combination, as the veteran playmaker will slot into a back three that also features Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie. The Bulls director of rugby will get an early view of the combination’s potential as the Boks have selected all three in the Rugby Championship opener against Australia at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.A 2019 World Cup winner, Le Roux becomes the latest signing by the Bulls, after White recently strengthened their squad with up to six new recruits in the hope of competing for trophies in 2023-24.
“Willie is a world-class player with so much experience behind him. Our stable is sure to benefit from having a player with more than 83 caps for his national side,” Blue Bulls Company CEO Edgar Rathbone said.“We are continuing with our ambitions of putting together a squad that can help us not only challenge but go for the crowns while playing some entertaining rugby and he is a player that falls into classification.
“We are all confident that his versatility will be appreciated by both the young and the wise. We wish him and the Springboks well for the upcoming Rugby Championship, and cannot wait to have him join us later in the year.”Last but certainly not least, the world cup winner, Willie Le Roux is officially a Vodacom Bull 🐂🍾
