Padres pitcher Yu Darvish throws three innings as Japan beats Korea; Ha-Seong Kim still looking for first hit of World Baseball Classic
The Padres’ 36-year-old right-hander allowed three runs — two earned — in three innings in earning the victory in Japan’sDarvish threw 31 of his 48 pitches for strikes, striking out one and scattering three hits and no walks during his first game action of any kind this spring.
All three runs scored in the third inning, via a two-run homer from Euiji Yang and an RBI single from Jung Hoo Lee., Darvish fetched a groundout in the first inning while Kim reached base on a throwing error in the third and scored on Lee’s single.
