Those thirty-degree-plus days that have become common in the last decade feel well beyond our reach this year
The first 20 days of summer seem fraught with cool northwest winds and temperatures lingering a degree or two below seasonal values. . So I looked back at last summer to see how it compares and was a little surprised.
We have already had two days this summer over 30°C - back in the last week of June. Did you realize that it wasn't until August 20th last summer that we counted the second day over 30°C? To my surprise, the entire summer of 2021 only measured three days above 30°C! There's still hope that 2022 will eclipse last year for hot summer days - just not this week!
Monday will be mostly cloudy, with the chance of showers on and off throughout the day. Gusty northwest winds arrive in the afternoon as temperatures climb to near 22°C. Skies will be partly cloudy on Tuesday, with daytime highs only reaching 20°C. However, we could see some clearing in the evening. Skies clear on Wednesday, with temperatures climbing to 22°C. A brisk northwest wind will make it feel a little cooler.
Thursday and Friday should see warmer air move back into the Sault region with daytime into the mid to upper 20s under sunny skies. This warm trend should continue into the weekend
