Wonder Woman's latest series is off to a promising start, as it finds her unraveling the mystery behind an Amazon's aggressive actions on U.S. soil, set against the backdrop of an increasingly hostile American government. This premise does more than kickstart a new chapter of Wonder Woman's story, however: its many parallels to 2007's Amazons Attack! storyline suggest this new series seeks to correct the many missteps of its predecessor.
The arc was controversial at the time, and reception of it has not grown warmer in subsequent years.Wonder Woman's Latest Series Is A Direct Foil to Amazons Attack! Wonder Woman #1 – by Tom King, Daniel Sampere, and Tomeu Morey – treads similar beats to Amazons Attack. In the 2007 series, Wonder Woman tries to make her mother see reason, while simultaneously being beholden to her connections at the Department of Meta-Human Affairs, including Sarge Steel.
