Police are investigating after reports of a sexual assault in St John's Gardens
Officers were called to reports that a woman was sexually assaulted in St John's Gardens in the early hours of Friday, September 1. Police were contacted at 3.55am after the woman was reportedly attacked by a man.
The victim is now being supported by specially trained officers and an investigation is currently underway. A cordon is in place at St John's Gardens, surrounding the monument to the King's Regiment behind St George's Hall. CCTV and forensic enquiries are ongoing.Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: "The investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry.
