'We were both quite shocked at how much it was costing us'
A woman was left "shocked" when she found out one of her household appliances was costing nearly £550 a year to run. Melinda Gaunt says she is "relieved" to have cut back on her energy bills after discovering how ineffective the appliance was.
The Mirror reports the couple wanted to find out exactly how much the appliance was costing them. They invested in a smart plug that measures the energy consumption of each appliance.With an approximate price tag of £15, smart plugs can be slotted into your socket, before the other appliance is plugged in. As previously reported by The Sun, Melinda and David left theirs in for more than a week and were shocked to discover their humidifier was costing them £1.
