Woman and next door neighbour found dead in flats 'amid reports of gas leak'
The man was also mysteriously found dead inside his home, with locals saying they had "no idea" how the duo had passed away.
Fire crews responded to reports of a gas leak at the flats shortly afterwards, forcing residents and nearby shops to evacuate.The force said there is no larger threat to the wider community. A GMP spokesman said: "We were contacted by NWAS at about 4.20pm today regarding a deceased female at an address on Princess Road, Manchester.
"Officers attended and while at the address were further contacted at 7.10pm in relation to a concern for welfare at a neighbouring flat."An investigation is under way into both deaths and there is a scene in place. GMFRS attended to test for a gas leak and nearby shops were evacuated as a precaution to ensure public safety.
"At this stage there is no risk to the wider community and the investigation is at a very early stage."
