A rollover crash involving two vehicles in Nanaimo sent a woman to hospital in serious condition and resulted in the arrest of another driver for suspected impaired driving and excessive speed. Nanaimo RCMP said the crash happened about 4:45 p.m.

The vehicles involved were a blue Hyundai Santa Fe and a red Volkswagen Tiguan. The driver of the Hyundai, who was shirtless at the time, fled from the crash scene. RCMP used a police dog to locate the man, who was arrested a short distance away. A female passenger in the Volkswagen was taken to hospital in serious condition. Her husband, who was driving the vehicle, was treated and released at the scene. The victim’s dog ran off but was located by a good Samaritan, said RCMP.
