Rusbi Arael Chilel-Perez, of Opelika, is charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree attempted rape, Auburn police announced Wednesday. The victim said Chilel-Perez, whom she did not know, began trying to interact with her while she was in the downtown area. The suspect eventually took physical control of the victim and abducted her to a secluded area close by.
The victim resisted and was able to escape. She found Auburn police officers who were conducting foot patrol in the downtown area.
