Oak Bay police said a suspect was identified after several “tipsters” came forward.
A 23-year-old has been charged after allegedly pushing an 85-year-old man down his front steps while attempting to enter his Oak Bay home.On Nov. 3, the 85-year-old resident of Hall Road answered a knock on his front door at about 8:30 a.m. and was confronted by a woman who said: “I am coming in,” Oak Bay police said.
Police said the man protested and a struggle ensued. The woman pushed the man, who was caught and steadied by a neighbour who heard the commotion and rushed to the man’s assistance. The woman fled on foot and was pursued by the neighbour for a short distance. The neighbour took a photo, which was distributed to media by police.
The man was left shaken and did not sustain any significant injuries, due in part to the help from his neighbour, said police.
