An 89-year-old woman who was left seriously injured after being hit by a SUV in a horror hit and run remains in hospital, with police continuing to hunt the driver responsible.
Emergency services raced to the scene, close to the junction of Hillview Road, after the 89-year-old woman was found in the road at around 10.10am. A huge cordon was put in place close to the Asda supermarket entrance as police officers and paramedics responded.She was taken to hospital from the scene with 'serious injuries' and remains there in a stable condition with wrist and knee fractures, police said.
In an update, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they are still hunting the driver and that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident. In an appeal on Sunday , police urged the driver to hand themselves in as the investigation into the incident continues, with CCTV footage being reviewed.
