Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect they say seriously attacked a 74-year-old woman near a Markham bus stop.
they were called about an attack near a bus stop at Kennedy Rd. and Steeles Ave. E. at about 2:15 p.m. on July 8. Police said the woman was walking from a nearby mall to the bus stop, when she saw a man walk from a pathway on the west side of Steeles Ave. E.shows the suspect and woman move toward each other before the man pulls at her hair. Then, the suspect lingered nearby for a few moments before leaving the scene.
Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking the assistance of the public after a serious assault occurred in the City of Markham. Upon arriving, police said first responders took the woman to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. Police are asking for anyone with video of the incident to speak to investigators. They ask anyone who may have witnessed the events to contact police at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7541, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
The attack happened a day after another assault on an 85-year-old woman at the Kipling subway station. Toronto police arrested Kelon Peters on July 14 for the Kipling station incident.
