Witnesses of a serious crash that saw two people hospitalised are being urged to come forward.

The two-vehicle crash happened at around 9.30am yesterday morning on Glasgow Road at the junction with Cairnmuir Road.

The 81-year-old female driver of a black Volkswagen Polo was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.The 23-year-old male driver of the other vehicle was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride with minor injuries.An investigation into the crash is ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Craig McDonald said:"Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward. "We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash who have not yet spoken to the police or who may have dashcam footage.
