The Diamond Princess cruise ship has now had 20 cases of coronavirus diagnosed – 10 earlier in the week and 10 more in the last two days. The ship, carrying 2,666 passengers and 1,045 crew members, will remain where it is for two weeks.
The Diamond Princess cruise ship, where authorities have already confirmed 20 cases of coronavirus, remains quarantined at Yokohama, Japan, as testing of passengers and crew continues.
“This is like rehab,” e-mailed passenger Robert Young, a retired emergency medical service provider from the San Francisco Bay area. “No bar service either.” Diamond Princess passenger Yardley Wong, confined to an inside cabin with her husband and 6-year-old son, tweeted that passengers would be allowed outside for fresh air, beginning with decks 5 and 8.on an open-air deck, under supervision of quarantine officials, the Guardian reported.The ship, carrying 2,666 passengers and 1,045 crew members, is expected remain where it is for two weeks. The ship’s passengers began their journey Jan. 20 at Yokohama. Their cruise was to have ended Feb. 4.
While busying themselves with crossword puzzles and in-cabin movies passengers daydreamed of humidifiers and other comforts. One Diamond Princess passenger tweeted a photo of masks, one per passenger, distributed to cabins.
