Award-winning actor Wiseman Mncube is ready to step into Bonko Khoza’s shoes as Mqhele in the Showmax original series that South Africans love to hate, The Wife, season 3. It premieres on Thursday.He was cast as the new Mqhele two months ago after Khoza left the show. Mncube said this was a welcome challenge for him.
When asked if Khoza had been helping him settle well into the role, Mncube said they had not met or spoken since he had joined the Showmax series. He said that Mqhele was not too different from his Uzalo character, Sbonelo. “When I look at Mqhele and Sbonelo, I see the same person, they are similar so, when I read the script, I could not get my head off Sbonelo. So, I had to differentiate and not take Mqhele to Uzalo and vice versa.”
